Anyway, Spud's got a new girlfriend. And she's not decrepit, like the other ones he picks up at the pub. This girl has a brain! And she paints! Not rooms. This one paints pictures. Proper pictures.

G'day. Its not so hot here today. In fact, there was a bit of a chill in the air when I pointed percy to the dust, first thing.

But, hey - have we got problems. Spud's in love with the sheila on the Dildo Song video. We told him - hey Spud - she's got a friend already - don't you know what a dildo is? And you know what he said? He said "Yez, natch man. They had them in New Zealand a while back, but someone shot the last one, and now they're extinct."

See - Spud's not exactly what you'd call a mental giant.

Anyway, Rick found this video of Alice, which is not too far away from Daly Waters. Except that is it real? Strewth! There are three corners!!! Picken reckons its an optical illusion.

Picken should know. He went to Melbourne once.

G'day, and its another hot one here at Waly Waters, but we've got some big news!

Spud, yes, our own Spud Murphy, the Daly Waters Drongo, looks as though he's going to be a TV star! And some of the rest of us are going to be on TV as well.

Have you heard of Russell Coight? He's, like, this big time real earthy reporter for Network Ten, and he reports on the real Australia - none of your ponsy stuff for Russell - he shows what life is actually like in the outback - he features the actual news and actual people and the actual stories.

He pitched up with a whole TV set (there was him, and the producer, a cameraman, and a couple of fair dinkum Sheilas who didn't seem to do too much except comb Russell's hair and put some makeup on him and generally pamper him, until Rick got to know them better, that is) a couple of weeks ago here at Daly Waters, and they've been filming all over the station with Spud in tow ever since.

They interviewed most of us on the first two days, but chose Spud to be one of the stars of a programme for the next series. Rick tried to warn them off Spud, because, well...Spud is Spud, isn't he. But they seemed to think he had 'hidden talents'.

They've filmed Spud on his horse, down at the billabong, out in the bush, and all sorts of other places. They also brought enough slabs with them to keep us going for three whole days! No expense spared. They did say that they thought the booze might last a bit longer. I think they thought it would do them until they got to the top end.

Tomorrow, there's a big party at Daly Waters Pub, and the amber nectar's all free!

This will really put the station on the map, eh?

This is an experiment in social networking. If you go over to netvibes and sign in as Carslemane@yahoo.com.au with the password carslemane9999 then you will be able to see, and add to, if you like, a little home page thing Spud 'n me put together.

Its got a place you can leave notes, and you can see photos of pubs and other things which interest Spud, with some links to the blogger mates of me 'n Spud, and you can check out the weather here at Daly Waters.

Fridge Photo Competition Winners

G'day. Spud has finally reappeared after his walkabout. I can't go into the details and its all rather unsavoury, to say the least. He may have to appear in court, that's all I'll say, especially if they ever locate the dresses and the didgeridoo.

He's obviously not in great shape, but has been able to judge the fridge piccy competition, as promised.

So...here they are.

We would like to thank all of you who responded to the tag, plus anyone else who posted a piccy of their fridge on their blogs. For all we know, there are now thousands of fridge photos on blogs throughout the world, but we can only judge the ones we know about.

So...here are the winners.

Before the announcement, we would just like to say how difficult it has been to do the judging. Spud can hardly see out of either eye, and has a big bump on his head where the Sheila hit him with the didgeridoo, which has made the judging particularly hard. Then there has been the general excellence of the fridges.

But Spud has managed to make the following decisions.

1. Most African Fridge:
Menzies Milngavie's fridge is a clear winner in this category. We have no idea what all those foods are, of course.

2. Busiest Fridge:
Heather's fridge is the winner. How she can find the amber nectar in that lot, we don't know. The co-winner is Eric, who shares the same fridge. Well done, you two.

3. Most Disgusting Object Found In Fridge:
Robbo, who found this in his fridge. Have you eaten it yet, Robbo?

4. Most Organised Fridge:
Lee Ann's fridge. We reckon she might even keep a computerised list of its contents, somewhere. Thank you, Lee Ann, for explaining what all of those things were that you keep in your fridge.

5. Tallest Fridge:
Jef's fridge. A giant amonst fridges.

6. The No Fridge, Fridge:
Titcho won this category. Its so cold where he lives that he just stashes his amber nectar in the polar bear's pantry.

7. Most Empty Fridge:
Morgs' fridge. You must be on a diet.

8. Fridge With The Most Roses Falling On It:
Princess's fridge. Spud says he feels dizzy after looking at it for too long.

9. Most Virtual Fridge:
Hotboy won this cetegory, which is for people who do not know how to post a piccy of a fridge on their blog.

10. FridgeWith Most useful Contents
This has to go to me, for Carslemane's fridge. Spud comments were "You had plenty XXXX, the vegemite and 'roo chunks. What else does anyone really need in their fridge?".

G'day, and its getting hot here already.

Since my last tag worked so well (Spud reckoned no-one would actually do it, but we had a whole heap of entries, didn't we), here's another one which everyone can do.

What's in your fridge? That is the question. I tag the same folk as last time: Hotboy, Robbo, Mingin, Lee Ann, Eric, Heather, and ticharu, but its open to anyone else.

Hotboy has left the station

Strewth, that was one piss-up we had with Hotboy. He certainly loves his amber liquid.

Unfortunately, all good things come to an end, and when the pub eventually ran dry we had to leave. Spud hasn't been seen for a couple of days now. He went to the dunny for a chunder, and never came back!

Hotboy taught us all a lot about RaBliss. Here he is showing us how its done by an expert. He's wearing his goodbye prezzie we all chipped in to buy him. It should help him fit in well over at Bondi.

Walt Waters Awful Writing Competition Results

G'day, and its been a long hot night here at Walt Waters.

The Literary Club Competition Committee has been up late, judging all the entries in the Awful Writing Competition, and its been really tough coz there have been some ace entries. We've needed bulk amber fluid to keep us going, and I can hardly see straight to type. Its been bloody hard yakka, and Spud is completely stonkered! Reckon he'll have a liquid laugh before he's finished.

There was nearly a blue about whether the worst entry should be the winner, or the best entry, seeings how it is an awful writing competition. In the end, we reckoned that the best entry was the worst entry, but some of the Committee are still a bit confused.

Anyway, its been a ripper competition. And now is the time to announce the winner. Remember, the winner gets an expenses paid weekend at the Daly Waters Pub as a prize.

But before that, let us recap a minute.

Mingin's entry was entitled "Flick Winds".

Robbo's entry was written with a sharpened penguin beak, which is probably the only pens they have on the UnHeard of Islands.

Hotboy's first entry was about wind - not flatulence, mind - but wind that skips through the akuri bushes. Hotboy's second entry was about a lonely gull sticking out a finger.

Titcho's entry was about guns and gut banks.

Carsey's entry was a true story about an ex-dunny.

Then there was Eric who was included in the tag.

And also Lee Ann.

And finally Heather.

Seven people tagged, plus myself, Carsey, and only one can be the winner!

There was a lot of discussion about whether transferable voting should be allowed, but as no-one knew how that worked, we decided against it.

Well, we've had one entry for the Awful Writing Competition so far.

Titcho has written a dinkum song which you can find here.

Good on yer, Titcho. I dunno, but it doesn't sound at all awful enough to me! Its pretty good, and it even rhymes. There's not one mention of a dunny! I've been singing it along to the tune of Waltzing Matilda all day.

In order to stop us fighting here on the station, we've been told to form clubs. My club is the Literary Club, and most of the guys have joined. I think maybe some of them thought the club might be about dirty books, but there you go, mate.

So this competition is the first initiative of the Literary Club. And I hope that everyone will support our efforts to stop fighting by entering the Awful Writing Competition and posting their entries on their blogs and then telling me about them in Comments on this blog.

When we've got a few, we'll judge them, for the purposes of which we've formed a committee called The Walt Waters Awful Writing Competition Committee. And I'll let you know who wins the prize of a piss-up in Daly Waters.
